The young people of Heilbronn elect their own representative body. The Heilbronn municipal youth council was established in 1998. Twenty girls and boys, between 14 and 18 years old, are elected for a term of two years to deal with matters which affect young people. The municipal youth council recently scored a huge success when the night bus service was extended on Fridays and Saturdays by one hour from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m.
As a general rule, the municipal youth council meets once per month. The sessions are held in the town hall’s small council chamber and are usually open to the public.
