Types of gastronomic establishments range from noble gourmet restaurants, to home-style cooking to simple inns.
The so-called “Besen” are particularly popular. They uphold the tradition of the wine grower’s, the “Wengerter”, by opening their “good room” (“gute Stube”) to guests for a short time. In addition to their house wine there are also very good offers on inexpensive food. A besom signifies when a “Besen” is open e.g. hung up on a sign.
