Typical Swabian dishes – this is the one, the traditional side of the local cuisine. On the other hand there are culinary specialities from all over the world. Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Turkish, American, French, and Italian – the Heilbronn gastronomy offers something for all tastes.
Types of gastronomic establishments range from noble gourmet restaurants, to home-style cooking to simple inns.

The so-called “Besen” are particularly popular. They uphold the tradition of the wine grower’s, the “Wengerter”, by opening their “good room” (“gute Stube”) to guests for a short time. In addition to their house wine there are also very good offers on inexpensive food. A besom signifies when a “Besen” is open e.g. hung up on a sign.
